Opportunity, values and common sense. Welcome to the Reborn Hamilton County Democratic Party. From this day forward we are telling our community, our state, and our nation what we stand for and who we are. As of today, the New Hamilton County Democratic Party stands ready to take the lead to elect ethical, qualified, and committed Democrats to office. As of today, we are telling this community that we are proud to be Democrats, and that we will be proud to deliver our message of opportunity, values, and common sense. Democrats believe in the opportunities of business. We believe in ethical businesses that provide our community with job growth and economic opportunity. We believe in businesses that wisely use our resources, without wasting these resources-preserving those resources for the future while providing economic growth for the community as a whole. We believe in the opportunities of public education. Employers know that education provides a job pool of good employees to help them produce their product or deliver their services. Well educated employees are a key factor in the economic success of any business, and of the economic success of any community. Opportunities are also created when we find alternatives to the rising cost of gasoline in our nation. We can create opportunity by providing tax and financial incentives to people who drive environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles. Our government should give back to the members of our community by giving incentives to save energy. We must also create opportunities for the elderly, we recognize that the elderly living on limited incomes may be overly burdened-we must stand up and fight for their rights, giving those who deserve a tax break a tax break-helping the elderly in our community to keep their homes, and help them live on their limited income—providing them the keys to live a healthy and rewarding life.. We believe in opportunities given to us by living in a free society, allowing all of us to express our beliefs. Democrats believe in family values. Regardless of whether children are raised by their grandparents, a single parent, or in the traditional family, we know that family is the key to sound values. We support families in all forms. We also believe in the value of religious freedom. We believe our country was founded on principles of religious freedom-not religious oppression. We believe that the "founders" understood the value of religious freedom, and they understood the importance of people of all religions to freely practice their faith without government intrusion. In our system, the people choose to believe, not our government. We believe in the values of giving back to our community. Our party recently raised money for the victims of Katrina by contributing those funds to the African Methodist Episcopal Church on Williams Street in Chattanooga. This church is teaching religious values while helping those in need-and our party stepped up to the plate. We, as a community, stepped up to the plate when our federal government let us down. Democrats believe in common sense. Common sense tells us that our leaders are elected as public servants-their responsibility is for the public good, not for personal gain. When our leaders are faced with controversy, they must remember their responsibility to the public-placing the needs of the public before their personal needs. Common sense dictates we believe in our free society, and we support those who fight to preserve freedom for those of us at home. We believe in our troops, and we believe we should remember those times when presidents have appropriately committed our troops to fight for our freedoms. We believe in opportunities for all Americans, we believe in values that represent our freedoms as the greatest nation on this planet, and we believe that common sense should dictate how our government operates and our political leaders conduct themselves. We believe in the opportunities, the values and the common sense reflected in the Constitution of the United States, upholding these principals for all, not just a select few. Opportunity, values and common sense-these basic principles guide our daily lives allowing us to create future opportunities in education, in health care, and in our economy. We must remember that our values belong to no one-our values are defined by our family and by our principles. Finally, common sense dictates that our leaders serve the public good not their self interests and that the public good is the obligation of all of our elected officials. After all, a little common sense can go a long way.
